The following paragraph was written by Shaun. He wanted to express his story through his way and his words. Project Youth is proud that Shaun felt empowered to do so.
Shaun's hope is that young people will hear how his experience was with Project Youth, and may choose to seek support as well.
Shaun is now a paid employee at BackTrack Works, an independent youth employment social enterprise. He helps facilitate more employment outcomes for young people coming out of the core BackTrack program. Shaun entered into Project Youth services at the age of 15 and throughout his journey at Project Youth, he completed courses, was sent out to do labouring work though Labour Y, was housed in Crisis Accommodation and Transitional Housing, and was been supported through case management. He was also instrumental in helping Project Youth secure funding by presenting to a group of Corporate Donors, where he told his story with truth and conviction and won the hearts of all he presented to.
Shaun is just one example of how young people can enter into the services of Project Youth from difficult circumstances and make changes that lead to positive outcomes. If you like Shaun's story, consider sharing in on social media via the buttons below.
Project Youth acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we work. We acknowledge that this always was and always will be Aboriginal land and we pay our respects to Elders past, present & future.
