What does YPAC do?
YPAC are leading the change to end youth homelessness
- Sharing Power with Leadership – YPAC was built to lead alongside the CEO, not report to them. They set the agenda, drive decision-making, and collaborate at the highest levels to push for systemic change.
- Owning the Budget – In a groundbreaking move, YPAC was entrusted with a significant budget. They have full control over how this money is spent—aligning every dollar with the vision to end youth homelessness.
- Elevating Marginalised Voices – They built a decision-making framework ensuring young people, especially those often unheard, have influence over key choices.
- Fortnightly CEO Collaboration – Every two weeks, YPAC leads a strategic meeting with the CEO & the Practice Lead for Lived Experience, shaping priorities and actions while ensuring leadership listens and learns.
- Transforming Governance – They designed and are now rolling out a Lived Experience in Governance framework with the Board. Under this framework young people with lived experience will have real power as voting members, in the Company Secretary role, and across governance structures.
- Leading Organisational Strategy – YPAC facilitated an all-staff away day for the whole workforce, driving team building, strategic thinking, and action planning.
- Revolutionising the AGM – They redesigned the 2024 AGM to be youth-friendly, dynamic, and accountable—culminating in a fireside chat with the Board, where young people set the agenda.
- Lived Experience at the Core – YPAC co-designed and implemented a new Lived Experience Strategy for Project Youth, embedding real voices in all decisions, design and development.
- Data-Driven Change – They built a comprehensive data system with the Practice Lead for Lived Experience, to track youth participation and engagement, ensuring transparency and impact.
- Storytelling for Change – Every decision is now shaped by the power of lived experience stories, making sure the human impact is never lost in the numbers.
- The Bear Project – A new movement igniting young people across the community to act in the fight to end youth homelessness.
- Reconciliation in Action – YPAC played a role in co-designing and delivering the Reconciliation Action Plan, ensuring First Nations young people are heard, valued, and empowered.
- This is Youth-Led Change in Action
YPAC is breaking barriers, shifting power, and proving that when young people lead, real change happens. They’re not waiting for permission—they are redesigning the system.
