How Your School Can End Youth Homelessness

As part of our movement to end youth homelessness, Project Youth are available to attend any high schools in the Sutherland Shire, Georges River and Bayside areas and offer any of the following sessions.
If you are interested in any of the following sessions at your school, please contact
peerworker@projectyouth.org.au with the requested session, date and time along with any other applicable details.
Capacity is limited so please understand that we are not able to deliver to all schools. We will prioritise schools that have Young Advocates currently placed in the school.

Storytelling at an Assembly or Event
(15 mins)
- Live, interview-style storytelling.
- Features a young person with lived experience sharing their story and how they became involved with Project Youth.
- Provides information about Project Youth and how to access support.
- Explains The BEAR Project and how young people can get involved.
- Offers guidance on how to support a friend who may be experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
- Aims to reduce stigma and shame surrounding youth homelessness by increasing awareness of available support and empowering young people to seek help.
- Delivered at no cost.
Service presentation about Youth Homelessness (30 mins - 1 hour)
- An interactive, packaged session designed to educate students about youth homelessness.
- Provides an overview of Project Youth, including the services and programs we offer and how young people can access support.
- Explains The BEAR Project—what it is, why it was created, and how students can become Young Advocate or make a pledge.
- Features live storytelling, either through young people with lived experience sharing a brief version of their story or by playing a segment from our podcast. A facilitated Q&A will follow to answer questions about youth homelessness and navigating support services.
- Offers guidance on how to support a friend who may be experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
- Aims to reduce stigma and shame surrounding youth homelessness by increasing awareness of available support and empowering young people to seek help.
- Delivered at no cost.

Stall at an Event / Day (2-3 hours)
- An information stall featuring resources on Project Youth, The BEAR Project, and youth homelessness.
- Provides information about Project Youth including the services and programs offered and how young people can access support.
- Shares details about The BEAR Project—what it is, why it was created, and how to become a Young Advocate or make a pledge.
- Offers guidance on how to support a friend who may be experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
- Aims to reduce stigma and shame associated with youth homelessness by increasing awareness of available support and empowering young people to seek help.
- Delivered at no cost.
Youth Mental Health First Aid Training (2 Days)
- Project Youth offers the accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) course for individuals aged 18 and over.
- This nationally recognised training equips participants with the knowledge and skills to support young people experiencing mental health challenges. Upon completion, attendees become certified YMHFAiders.
- At Project Youth, 85% of the young people we support are experiencing a mental health diagnosis or challenge. Your involvement is one meaningful way to contribute to ending youth homelessness.
