FAQs

Program FAQs

  • Can I take part in more than 1 program?

    Yes you can.

  • Do I have to pay anything?

No - our programs are free.

  • Do I have to come to the youth centre?

No, we can meet you in lots of different places, like school, a cafe, and your house and we will work that out with you when planning to meet.

  • Do my parents have to know I am seeing you?

They don't have to know, but we find that when families are involved it often helps in getting things sorted for you. But if you don't want us to talk to parents or teachers we won't. We respect your privacy and keep what you tell us, confidential. If we are ever concerned about your safety, we may need to report this to someone who can help you. We will inform you if we are going to do this.

  • I don't want to do counselling. Will you make me do counselling?

We don't make you do anything you don't want to do. We work with you on what YOU want.  Our job is to help you work out what you want or need help with.

  • Don't you only work with "bad" kids?

We work with ALL young people between 12 – 25 who need any type of support. It could be just a chat with a friendly worker; to get support with exam stress; or you could be worried about a friend and need some advice to help them. We also work with young people who are at risk and need support with things like court, police, homelessness, mental health or abuse. No young people are bad…We believe ALL young people deserve the opportunity to thrive regardless of the disadvantages you may face. Give us a ring and we can chat through how we can help you.

  • I don't know what help I need. What do you do?

We can talk about whatever problem you’re facing. For example, arguing with parents, fines, accessing ID, meeting other young people, making friends. Whatever you’ve got going on, we are here to help, and if we can’t help you, then we will try and find someone who can.

  • What kind of rights do I have?

At Project Youth, we want to ensure all young people understand what their rights are and what our role is as we're serving you. You can check out our Young Person Charter of Rights & Responsibilities.
