YPAC Member (Young People Advocating Change)

The Role

The Role:

The main function of a YPAC Member is to use their lived experience and insight to create

change for other young people. YPAC (Young People Advocating for Change) is a youth-led group that meets regularly to share leadership with the CEO & Board of Project Youth.

The primary function of a YPAC Member is to include the voices, experiences, and ideas of young people to influence and improve Project Youth’s programs, services, and strategic direction. 

YPAC Members play a key role in ensuring that decisions made within the organisation are informed by lived experience and grounded in what young people want and need. Through regular meetings and collaborative projects, members contribute to policy

development, service design, advocacy campaigns, and organisational planning.




The Main Responsibilities

Your commitment will be to:

• Attend and participate in our YPAC meetings held fortnightly on a Tuesday between 2.30pm & 5.30pm

• Bring your lived experience, ideas and insights to discussions that help shape Project Youth’s services, strategy, and advocacy work

• Contribute to co-design processes, consultation and projects that influence how services are delivered to young people

• Be a champion for youth voice, inclusion, and equity both within Project Youth and in broader community

The Person

• Are you aged between 16–25?

• Do have lived experience related to homelessness, housing instability, mental health, education, justice involvement, or other barriers faced by young people ?

• Do you care about making a difference and want to speak up for young people in your community?

• Are you open to learning, asking questions, and sharing your ideas and experiences?

• Do you enjoy working with others and want to grow your confidence, leadership, and advocacy skills?
