Property and Tenancy Worker
The Role
The worker will be based in the Sutherland Shire.
The role is Part-time. It is paid at SCHADS award level 4.
The role will report directly to the Housing Manager of Project Youth.
The main responsibilities:
- New tenant sign up and tenancy management
- Maintenance reporting and management of repairs
- Asset management
- Work alongside case workers to assist young people who require support to maintain their tenancy
- Build and maintain relationships with major stakeholders eg Government Departments, other NGOs and trades people
- Ensure best practice is follow at all times in line with Project Youth’s values and purpose
The Main Responsibilities
• Provide excellent customer service to ensure a positive tenant (young person) experience.
• Have a knowledge and empathy of working with ‘at risk’ client groups e.g. homeless young people.
• Identify and work alongside Project Youth and external case workers to assist young people who require support to maintain their tenancy.
• To manage the provision of Y Housing properties in line with Residential Tenancy Act 2010 (NSW).
• To provide Property and Tenancy management functions for Y housing program including tenancy sign up, tenancy management, maintenance reporting, asset management and rent collection.
• Rental Management- ensuring rental payments are on time and up to date and taking prompt action to recover arrears.
• Completing rental property inspections and taking action where appropriate.
• Managing leases, sign ups, renews and end of tenancy.
• To represent Project Youth at Residential Tenancy Tribunal Hearings and to make applications for various orders as required.
• Manage maintenance requests and delegate maintenance to appropriate contractors, ensuring tasks have been completed to Project Youths satisfaction.
• Answer general enquiries from tenants, prospective tenants and any other persons enquiring about Y Housing program.
• Provide information and correspondence to Y housing tenants as required and as is appropriate.
• Work closely with external stakeholders who provider Project Youth Y housing properties (e.g DCJ, private rental, SGCH etc.)
• Provide timely reports as requested by Y housing manager as required.
• Assist in the collation of data and documents for reporting.
• Manage Chintaro database and collate data in CIMS
The Person
The successful candidate will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant field
- Very organised and efficient work practices
- Enthusiastic, energetic and committed to supporting a not-for profit organisation
- Previous Tenancy and Property Management experience
- Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently
- Experience working with young people
- Proven experience / understanding of working within a trauma informed practice model
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Experience using CIMS and Chintaro or similar tenancy management system
- Exemplary interpersonal skills, including effective listening, empathy, discretion, diplomacy and the ability to build and sustain relationships
- Strong relationship management and/or customer service experience and skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and establish priorities
- High levels of attention to detail and strong administrative skills
- Strong Microsoft Office Skills (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Current drivers licence and access to a vehicle.
All Project Youth employees are required to undergo a National Criminal Record Check and a Working with Children Check by the relevant State and Territory Government(s) as a condition of employment.
