Fusion Festival Peer Worker

The Role

The Peer Worker for this program will work alongside Culture Connect program worker to network with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Māori and Pacific Islander communities. 


You will book cultural and assist in facilitating Fusion Festival activities and events


The purpose of the role is in line with Project Youth’s strategy of ending youth homelessness. We believe that social connections, creating empathy and understanding difference is a key way to eliminate further prejudice towards First Nations Peoples, and ultimately increases the protective factors of each individual.


The Main Responsibilities

The Person

Essential criteria, experience and skills:

• Have your own lived experience of identifying as a First Nations young person (including Māori and/or Pacific Islander)

• Be under the age of 25 years (this is a Peer Worker role – therefore age must be in line with Project Youth’s age criteria for participants)

• Be purpose driven to reduce young people’s risk of homelessness factors

• Be able and willing to purposefully use your own story to provide mentoring, advice, guidance and information to young people

• Be committed to the principles of equity of access and cultural diversity 

• Have good computer and literacy skills


Desirable experience and skills:

• Experience working in a youth service or with young people facing disadvantages


 All Project Youth employees are required to undergo a National Criminal Record Check and a Working with Children Check by the relevant State and Territory Government(s) as a condition of employment.
