Crisis Youth Refuge Cordinator  

The Role

The Coordinator will report directly to the Housing Manager of Project Youth and will coordinate the day to day operations of Project Youths 2 crisis refuges based in Sutherland and Penshurst NSW


The role is fulltime 38 hours per week and is paid at SCHADS award level 6. 

The Main Responsibilities

Essential criteria:


• Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Youth Work or other related Social Science qualification

• Drivers Licence and own vehicle

• Current Working with Children’s Check and National Police Check


Experience and skills:

• Possess a minimum of 2 years proven experience as a Coordinator

• Demonstrated experience in staff management, supervision and development

• Demonstrated experience in service coordination, including working to a budget

• Demonstrated understanding of the role of a youth housing provider in the delivery of housing services

• Proven experience working in a homelessness service / youth Crisis accommodation service

• Understanding of adolescent development

• Proven leadership skills, and ability for recruitment, training and support for permanent staff, Casuals, volunteers and students 

• Excellent organisational and analytical abilities

• Experience in implementing service change and reform

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills

• Commitment to the principles of equity of access, cultural diversity, client service and accountability

• Possess a good understanding of Trauma informed principles and ability to implement this into practice

• Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the issues faced by young people requiring housing assistance

• Experience and skills in case work and case management

• Knowledge of government funding processes and relevant legislation, including DCJ - Good Practice Guidelines, SHS standards, ASES accreditation, Outcomes based funding

• Knowledge of youth related social issues and service models

• Understanding of EEO and WHS requirements

• Competence in Microsoft Office, Internet, Email, CIMS or other equivalent client management systems.

• Proven ability to maintain and build effective stakeholder relationships both internally and externally

• Able to demonstrate forward thinking and using initiative

• Self-starter with the ability to juggle a number of assignments at the same time, to react quickly, to meet deadlines, to organise a busy workload and to prioritise tasks

• Demonstrated ability to design and manage rosters

• Experience of managing projects independently or with minimal supervision - preparing schedules and plans and delivering against them

• Ability to work with in a team and support colleagues
