Early Intervention Schools based Youth Worker 

We’re looking for an outgoing and energetic person to work with young people in local high schools. 28 hours per week, Maternity leave position commencing 21st October 2019 - until June 2020.
You will be required to run group work activities for identified at risk students, case manage young people, and develop relationships to expand our service delivery options. This position also supports the St George Region Fit for Life and Island time programs.

Experience developing, implementing and running programs essential. Experience working with schools highly regarded.  

28 hours per week, to be worked flexibly between 6.00am and 8.00pm.

Fundraising & Marketing Coordinator

Project Youth, established 27 years ago, is a charity based in Southern Sydney providing support and assistance to young people who are homeless or facing disadvantage. Project Youth's vision is to create a future where all young people can thrive regardless of the disadvantage they face. To do this Project Youth provide trauma-informed support for young people aged 12-24 who have complex needs, are at risk, come from disadvantaged backgrounds and would not be able to fulfill their potential without additional support.
Our work is in three main areas:
  1. Homelessness and Housing: Accommodating young people in crisis and supports transition into independent living or returning to their family home
  2. Early Intervention: Intervening early to reduce and stop escalation of issues
  3. Education, Employment and Training: Providing pathways to employment and education through our 2 social enterprises, Cafe Y and Labour Y
The Role:
We are looking for someone who wants to join a not for profit team to support us in expanding our reach and impact through fundraising and marketing.
The role will be based in the Georges River area in South Sydney.
The role is part-time 21 hours per week (days are flexible) and is paid at SCHADS award level 4 (pro-rata).
The role will report directly to the CEO of Project Youth to:
  • Write and implement a fundraising and marketing strategy
  • Attract funding through a range of fundraising initiatives including events
  • Build and maintain relationships with major donors
  • Grow our donor program including bequests, payroll giving and regular donors
  • Manage our social media program and any related marketing activity
  • Provide communications support
The main responsibilities:
  • Conduct market research and analysis, identifying appropriate funding opportunities
  • Develop and implement a fundraising and marketing strategy
  • Coordinate and implement all fundraising activities and events
  • Develop strategies to attract new donors, sponsors, philanthropists and HNWI
  • Develop and maintain a donor and sponsor database
  • Develop and maintain consistent quality communications with donors and sponsors
  • Manage Project Youth Social Media accounts
  • Ensure best practice is follow at all times in line with Project Youth’s values and purpose
The Person
The successful candidate will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or diploma in a relevant field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a fundraising role
  • Very organised and efficient work practices
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and committed to supporting a not-for profit organization
  • Innovative and creative in developing new processes, programs and initiatives
  • Excellent written skills specifically in marketing and communicating with donors
  • Event management experience (preferably in fundraising events)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the Australian fundraising sector and practices
  • Experience of developing and implementing fundraising strategy including market research and analysis
  • Knowledge of social media account management (Facebook & Instagram)
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills, including effective listening, empathy, discretion, diplomacy and the ability to build and sustain relationships
  • Strong relationship management and/or customer service experience and skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and establish priorities
  • High levels of attention to detail and strong administrative skills
  • Demonstrated growth and learning mindset and a solution focused attitude
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of budget management
 All Project Youth employees are required to undergo a National Criminal Record Check by the Australian Federal Police and a Working with Children Check by the relevant State and Territory Government(s) as a condition of employment.

We get a lot of interest from students wanting to do placements at Project Youth. We're currently working with TAFE NSW, Sutherland College Loftus Campus, to try and accomodate their Youth Work students in the first intance. If you are a TAFE student speak to your placement coordinator.

Muscle Up Mentors!

Project Youth is currently looking for male mentors for our Muscle Up/Fit for Life boys fitness program.

The program will run across both Sutherland and St George areas...join one program or join them both!! Programs runs from 7am-8.15am on Weds (Sutherland) and Tues (St George).

Project Youth works in partnership with local police and PCYC to provide assistance and support to young people at risk. The aim of the program is to increase positive relationships between young people and available support services, and increase positive behaviours and school attendance by the young participants.

Muscle Up/Fit for Life has a strong focus on fitness
and encouraging the boys to positively engage in their community.

Our mentors are an integral part of this program. Volunteers who participate in this program are expected to participate in the fitness alongside the young people to encourage them to participate to the best of their potential and also ensure each young person is well supported throughout the program whilst also making the fitness enjoyable!!
