Funding & Partnerships Lead

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a not for profit addressing the complex social issues of youth disadvantage and youth unemployment. We have created a new role to find new revenue pathways to continue and expand our work supporting young people facing trauma and disadvantage. We are looking for the right person to lead this strategy at Project Youth. 


Maximum term contract for 2 years, with view to extend depending

on performance and generation of revenue


Full time 38 hours

Salary range: $104,866 and $109,253 SCHADS level 7 + leave loading, +

superannuation + salary packaging + additional paid leave

Location: Sutherland Shire

The Main Responsibilities

The role is for someone with at least 3 years’ experience in fundraising, corporate partnership, or equivalent roles. While this role is the lead for our Funding & Partnerships Strategy, there will also be responsibility for actioning areas of the work as well.


The role is maximum term for 2 years initially, with the potential to extend dependent on funding. The role will be based in the Sutherland Shire. The role is fulltime 38 hours per week and is paid at SCHADS award level 7. There is potential for the post holder to work under a hybrid arrangement.

In line with Project Youth’s funding and partnerships strategy the role will lead strategic growth and development of non-government funding streams to allow for innovative, research driven responses to youth disadvantage.


The role will be responsible for leading three of the core pillars in the strategy including:

- Philanthropy & Foundations relationships

- Donations and Donor Management

- Business & Corporate Partnerships


The includes the management of an existing portfolio of corporate and funding partnerships and donors, as well as the creation of new opportunities for revenue streams so Project Youth can expand reach through innovated responses to complex social issues.


The Person

The Funding & Partnerships Lead role is a new and exciting position which has been developed to pilot our reimagined funding strategy. We want someone who is enthusiastic, driven and as excited as we are about this new opportunity.

Essential Qualifications and experience:

• 3 years + working in a senior fundraising, partnerships or equivalent role

• Experiencing in generating revenue, creating sustainable growth and/or managing partner relationships 

• Professional and confident ability to pitch and present to a range of stakeholders

• Be eligible to work in Australia

Desirable Experience and Skills:

• Qualification in fundraising, marketing, communications or a related field

• NSW Driver’s License 

• Able to work effectively, compassionately and in a trauma informed way with young people Project Youth serves; as well as with staff (paid and not paid) and community members with lived experience of the issues Project Youth addresses through our work

• Funding and partnership strategy development and management 

• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders

• Ability to nurture and manage philanthropic/foundation relationships and donors

• Securing of corporate sponsorship and/or funding opportunities 

• Exceptional time management skills with multiple projects simultaneously

• Creating collateral that supports the work, including storytelling/story writing ability

• Strong problem-solving skills and a solution focussed approach

• Proven ability to work both autonomously and as part of a dynamic, outcomes focused team

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills

• Commitment to the principles of equity of access, cultural diversity and accountability

• Excellent computer and literacy skills

• An ability to work to targets and monitor performance against KPIs

• Able to demonstrate forward thinking and using initiative

• Highly professional and purpose driven
