Cafe Y Junior Trainee
The Role
The role will be based in Menai - South East Sydney.
The role is for a period of 12 months. It is a part time trainee position 31 hours per week and paid at Restaurant Industry Award 2010 (General)
The trainee will report directly to the Cafe Supervisor.
The Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Be committed to delivering exceptional customer service and exceeding your customers' expectations – this means friendly, professional and able to chat with our customers. They will also:
- Be reliable and on time
- Take direction and willing to learn
- Be willing to work in all areas of the café (kitchen, taking orders, making coffee, cleaning and serving)
- Be excited about working in a dynamic & busy cafe environment
- Have a passion for great coffee, great food and great service
Duties will include:
- Providing quick, efficient and friendly service at all times
- Developing your barista knowledge and skills
- Using the point-of-sale system and cash handling duties
- Consistent communication with all team members to ensure service is reaching optimum levels
- Assisting with basic food preparation
- Conducting general cleaning duties throughout the cafe
- Ensure compliance of workplace, health and safety, and other legislative requirements
The Person
We are on the search for a passionate and driven hospitality trainee.
Café Y is a Social Enterprise Café in the Sutherland Shire managed by the charity Project Youth. The café exists to ensure all young people regardless of the disadvantages they may face, have the opportunity to thrive. With over 8 years in operation Cafe Y is a truly unique café. The Café is committed to providing quality service, fabulous food and coffee, to our community of customers, while also helping to make a difference in the lives of the young people we support.
If you have a passion for customer service, good organisational skills, enjoy working in a café environment, and you want to complete a Certificate II or III in Hospitality – APPLY NOW
Full training will be provided and no experience is necessary. We are looking for commitment, passion and attitude rather than experience.
