Partnerships

Georges River Council are avid and long term supporters of Project Youth and the young people facing disadvantage within their LGA. They provide support by way of grant funding and local engagement opportunities including invitations to various events and involvement in youth matters. This past year, Georges River Council provided additional funding to Project Youth as part of fheir community grants programs.

From Project Youth's beginnings in the Sutherland Shire over two decades ago, Sutherland Shire Council have been generous supporters across funding, events, exposure and involvement in important youth matters. We have a strong and supportive relationship with the council as we work together to support young people in the Sutherland Shire LGA. The Councils also supports Project Youth via their community grants programs.

Contiki staff’s volunteering hours are now united in a common cause. Taryn, Ashleigh and the team organised a corporate DIY day, where staff could help with DIY at Project Youth’s social enterprise café such as painting, gardening and building furniture. 

Peter, Michelle and his team contribute a percentage of their property sales as a gift to support Project Youth. As a family owned and operated business, we are so grateful for Laing and Simmons’ ongoing support – Peter and Michelle are compassionate and generous members of our local community. 

Shae and her team donated a gorgeous leather bag to a young person from one of our Crisis refuges who was attending a formal. This was such a touching and thoughtful gesture, which made the young person feel amazing on their special day. They also gifted another handbag for an auction prize at a Project Youth fundraiser.

Phoenix and the team at Beach Burrito Cronulla worked with us on a fantastic Fundraising Event in June this year, ‘Ladies Who Lunch’, which involved bottomless sangria, Mexican food and live music. The team at Beach Burrito generously donated 100% of the event’s profits to Project Youth. The event was a huge success, which was testament to Phoenix’s skill as an events planner and her passion for fundraising. It was fantastic to see the local community come together to learn about and support Project Youth.

The Salvation Army craft group generously donate $1000 per year towards the running of Café Y. The Café is a social enterprise wherein all profits support local young people. The Salvation Army also visit the Café for morning tea on a regular basis and we love seeing their smiling faces as welcomed regulars at the Café. We are so grateful for the Salvation Army’s commitment to making the Café a success. 

The Menai branch, under the management of Danny Tannous, have donated an incredible $20,000 to Café Y since 2017. This incredibly generous sum goes above and beyond and contributes massively to the Café’s success in educating and training young people year after year. We are so grateful for the huge impact Commonwealth make with their incredible donations.

Club Central, the Café’s next door neighbours, are hugely generous in their support of Café Y, Labour Y and Project Youth as a whole. For example, Club Central enabled the enrolment of 46 young people in the Certificate II Hospitality Course. The team at Club central are great friends of the Café, regular visiting and promoting Café Y at any given opportunity. We are so grateful for their ongoing support, which has helped to change young people’s lives for the better.

Alison Brown, Kim Brown and the incredible team at Big Sister stand with us on our mission to support young people locally – they are strong believers in education and employment for young people facing disadvantage, and they are also Shire-based. The seed funding provided by Big Sister has enabled us to make Labour Y what it is today. We are so grateful for their ongoing support.

Alberto Furlan and the team at Ian Potter provided Labour Y with Seed funding to start up the Program. This donation was fundamental in facilitating the creation of Labour Y – we quite literally could not have done it without them. The team at Ian Potter remain in frequent contact, and are an invaluable source of advice for the Labour Y team. We are so grateful for their support which enables us to provide education, training and employment opportunities to young people every single day.

The team generously donated a large sum of money at the time of Labour Y’s inception to support with the birth of the program. We are so grateful that Mantana saw the benefits of such a program, which exists to support young people facing disadvantage to find employment.

IMB Bank Community Foundation (ICF) focuses on community engagement and improvement in the Shire. On two occasions, Cafe Y has received funding from ICF, which included the funding for refurbishments needed to open for business. Without this funding, Cafe Y would not have been able to purchase the equipment needed to keep up with demand. We are forever grateful that the IMB team believe in the potential of the Café. We would not be where we are today without their financial support.

Project Youth were honoured to be nominated to apply for a grant through UPS. This grant enabled us to provide a space for young people who are disadvantaged and homeless to receive advice and support for education and employment pathways. The grant provided a much-needed upgrade of furniture, fittings and equipment for young people to get the support they need. The team at UPS also provided 50 hours of volunteering helping us with DIY, maintenance, gardening, cleaning and rubbish removal at one of our transitional housing properties. UPS were so supportive of the work we do and it was a pleasure working with the UPS team and being able to support more young people facing disadvantage. 

Engadine Church collects donations for young people facing homelessness, and regularly deliver non-perishable items for emergency relief which goes to homeless and disadvantaged young people. We are so grateful for their thoughtful care packages and ongoing support.

The staff at the Specsavers branch in Menai generously collect donations from customers in their store and pass this on to Project Youth. Customer’s spare cents are collected in a donation pot – and every cent certainly counts. We are so grateful for Specsavers’ financial support, but also their assistance in raising awareness for youth homelessness in our local community by encouraging customers to donate.

Thank you to Bunnings for their donated goods, and also their volunteering time this year. The team at Bunnings share our dedication to improving the lives of young people facing disadvantage, and their support in looking after the most vulnerable members of our community is so appreciated.

The C3 Church are a fantastic support to Project Youth, donating their time in volunteering hours, and also providing resources to Project Youth’s properties. Not only are they a caring and compassionate bunch, but their skills at landscaping, painting and maintenance are second to none. Thank you C3.  

The Fellowship have generously donated tiles and bathroom equipment for the Project Youth property in Hurstville. Our youth centre and office facilities in Hurstville had a much-needed touch up this year – and it’s all thanks to Sydney Christ Life. We are so grateful.

The TBN’s members (listed below) have shown incredible support for Project Youth over the last year. Not only are they currently planning their second Christmas fundraiser in aid of Project Youth, but the individual members regularly donate to Project Youth’s campaigns. The 2019 casino themed fundraiser was a huge success, raising $10,000 for Project Youth. Their generosity knows no bounds, and we are extremely grateful for their continued support.
